WHAT

What is a Swedish massage?

Swedish massage is a traditional, therapeutic form of massage that works with the muscles, joints and soft tissues of the body.

It uses a combination of flowing strokes, kneading, gentle stretching and targeted pressure to support circulation, ease muscular tension and improve overall mobility. While often associated with relaxation, Swedish massage is highly adaptable — it can be soothing, restorative or more therapeutic depending on what the body needs.

At its best, it’s a thoughtful way of supporting both physical and nervous system health.

HOW

How is Swedish massage performed?

Swedish massage works through the muscles and connective tissue using medium to firm pressure, always adapted to the individual.

At House of Fina, treatments are never generic. I work with the body in front of me — responding to posture, tension patterns, stress levels and how the tissue responds on the day.

Techniques may include:

• Long, flowing strokes to support circulation

• Targeted work to ease muscular tension

• Gentle joint mobilisation to support range of movement

• Rhythmic, grounding touch to calm the nervous system

The intention is not to “fix” the body but to support it — creating space, ease and balance.

WHY

Why have a Swedish massage?

• Relieve muscular tension and stiffness

• Support joint health and mobility

• Improve circulation

• Reduce stress and physical fatigue

• Encourage nervous system regulation and deeper rest

While Swedish massage works more directly with muscles and joints, it also indirectly supports the lymphatic system through improved circulation and movement — making it a powerful, all-round treatment for both body and mind.

For many people, it’s an essential part of ongoing self-care — not a luxury, but maintenance.
